Whether in music creation, teaching, or reflection – we inspire with passion Lecturer for Violone/Historical Double Bass (5-25%) University of Music Basel FHNW, Schola Cantorum Basiliensis Your tasks: You teach the subject Violone/historical double bass in the style areas from Renaissance to Romantic at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis You guide students in the main subject and occasionally in the minor subject from Bachelor to the highest artistic demands in the specialised Master. In addition to solo training, great importance is placed on ensemble practice You work closely with colleagues, especially from the string classes, and contribute to giving the training at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis a distinctive profile You are a member of a dynamic and internationally staffed faculty of about 70 lecturers and are also involved in cross-class projects as well as in the general development of the training programmes at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis Your profile: You hold a relevant degree from a music university (Diploma/Master) in double bass or violone, maintain an intensive engagement with the historical music practice of lower string instruments, and can demonstrate a successful international career in early music You have extensive repertoire knowledge and are thoroughly familiar with the relevant sources for historical performance practice. You are acquainted with the cultural-historical contexts and aesthetics as well as the various string bass instruments and their development over the epochs. You are used to reading original notation and have rich experience in ensemble playing and improvisation as part of your musical skills If suitable and qualified, there is the possibility to supervise pedagogy students within the framework of subject didactics Through pedagogical training or pedagogical experience at university level, you have a formal higher education didactic qualification or are willing to acquire this during the first years of your new position Good German and English skills are required In teaching or research, university organisation or projects: Together we make music in all its forms tangible for diverse fields of work and cultural spaces.
