Join the Zurich Justice Department as a Social Worker. Contribute to the rehabilitation of inmates in a supportive environment. Tasks Promote individual daily structures for inmates with special needs. Manage cases and develop appropriate rehabilitation plans. Collaborate with internal and external partners effectively. Skills FH or HF degree in Social Work or Social Pedagogy required. Strong communication skills in German and other languages preferred. Team-oriented, resilient, and able to handle conflicts positively. Social Worker 80 - 100% Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for criminal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance. The Main Department of Enforcement Facilities Zurich (VEZ) – one of eight main departments of JuWe – comprises four institutions with different types of detention and cares for around 450 incarcerated persons with over 180 employees. The Affoltern am Albis prison, with 65 enforcement places and around 30 employees, specialises in the enforcement of sentences or remaining sentences of no more than 18 months. In addition to the concept of group enforcement, which aims at increased personal responsibility of the incarcerated persons, stage-appropriate education (BiSt) is offered. From 1 August 2026 or by arrangement, we are looking for an experienced and socially competent individual for our social service. This is your area of responsibility - You activate and support incarcerated persons with special needs through individual daily structure in the special department as well as in normal enforcement - You take over case management for the incarcerated persons assigned to you and develop appropriate enforcement plans within the scope of possibilities and guidelines - Administrative tasks, such as writing various reports - Based on the intervention recommendation of the Risk-Oriented Sanction Enforcement (ROS), you work with the incarcerated persons on resources and problem areas - You prepare enforcement relaxations (e.g. leave arrangements) - You actively shape interdisciplinary collaboration with internal and external partners - Participation in team meetings, working groups and projects What you bring - You have a university of applied sciences or higher vocational school degree in social pedagogy or social work and ideally have experience in the areas of criminal or measure enforcement, addiction treatment or psychiatry - You enjoy contact, professional engagement and joint activities with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds or psychiatric conditions - You work in a team-oriented manner, are resilient and flexible. Furthermore, you have a high degree of personal responsibility and social competence - You see conflicts and resistance as opportunities for personal development and reflection - You can express yourself very well in written and spoken German.
