Join the KESB as President, overseeing child and adult protection. This role offers a rewarding opportunity in a supportive work environment. Main content President KESB and Head of the Office for Child and Adult Protection (80 - 100 %) The Office for Child and Adult Protection with its affiliated Child and Adult Protection Authority (KESB) is responsible for the enforcement of civil law child and adult protection throughout the canton of Uri. It ensures the protection of children and adults when their welfare or independence is at risk and voluntary assistance is no longer sufficient. The KESB Uri is an interdisciplinary, court-like specialised authority that decides on the legally prescribed protective measures. It is supported by the Clarification and Support division. The Mandate Centre Uri is responsible for the enforcement of the ordered measures. Due to the retirement of the previous postholder, we are seeking an experienced and engaging leader as President of the Child and Adult Protection Authority (KESB) and Head of the Office for Child and Adult Protection (80 - 100 %) from 1 July 2027 or by agreement. General information Workload 80 - 100 % Start date 1 July 2027 or by agreement Employer Health, Social and Environmental Directorate Type Job offer Tasks You bear overall responsibility towards the political authorities and the public for the enforcement of the federally regulated child and adult protection, observing the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality. You monitor the enforcement of the ordered measures and review their effectiveness and appropriateness. As Head of Office, you lead the Office for Child and Adult Protection in professional, personnel and organisational terms and are a member of the management of the Health, Social and Environmental Directorate in this function. As President of KESB Uri, you lead the authority consisting of three full-time and five part-time members and are responsible in this role for conducting legally correct procedures and the lawful application of the law. You represent this important authority publicly and towards political bodies, giving it a clear profile and a face. You collaborate with municipalities, schools or private institutions and maintain regular exchanges with them. Expectations Many years of leadership experience, preferably in public administration or judicial authorities, as well as several years of experience as a member of a child and adult protection authority. Legal, psychological, pedagogical, social work or equivalent higher education. Ability to quickly grasp complex matters and to decide swiftly and confidently even in uncertain situations. Ability to recognise the potential of employees and to motivate and guide them to achieve jointly defined goals. Ability to collaborate constructively across directorates and offices and to present oneself convincingly to institutions, political authorities and other partners, diplomatically but consistently representing one’s own position even in the face of resistance. Ability to understand political decision-making processes and to recognise possible political impacts of one’s own decisions or those of the authority. Ability to deal with people in difficult life situations with understanding, without departing from the legally prescribed role, and to respond appropriately to emotional reactions of others.
