The nodes Hasenmoos-/Stationsstrasse and Station-West/Stationsstrasse are located outside urban areas and mark the boundary between agricultural and working zones. To the north lies Rothenburg station and motorway junction No. 22 Rothenburg. The junction is connected to the secondary road network via two roundabouts. Studies have shown that due to area developments in Rothenburg, this junction area will reach its capacity limits in the medium term. Without accompanying measures, this would lead to long queues back onto the main axis of the motorway. With the implementation of the new traffic lights No. 143 (Stations-/Hasenmoosstrasse) and No. 144 (Station West/Giebel/Stationsstrasse), the traffic infrastructure will be created to regulate traffic towards the motorway junction A2 during peak hours.
