The Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) and the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) are offering a position for: Physician, Chief of the General Psychiatry Service with Professorial Title in the field of adult general psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry (DP) Start date: January 2027 or by agreement Location: Lausanne, Switzerland Context The General Psychiatry Service (PGE) provides general psychiatric care for adults aged 18 to 65 in the central health region of the canton of Vaud, covering a population of approximately 350,000 inhabitants. It includes a hospital centre and several outpatient units. The service’s mission is both generalist and specialised, offering advanced care as well as teaching and research in the major fields of adult psychiatry. Academically, the PGE is active in 5 of the 6 research axes of the DP and collaborates with other DP services, other CHUV departments (notably Imaging, Fundamental Neurosciences), and other universities and national and international groups. Mission Responsibilities of the position: Lead the service and ensure overall medical responsibility. Maintain and enhance the expertise and quality of the clinical missions/services while developing multidisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations and synergies in line with the CHUV strategic plan. Unite, lead and develop high-level clinical and academic research, funded by expert external grants and published in quality scientific journals. Coordinate undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education in the field. Ensure quality medical and scientific succession, consolidate the influence of the clinical and academic domain both internally and externally, and collaborate with hospitals of the Vaud Hospitals Federation (FHV), especially the Nant Foundation and psychiatric hospitals in French-speaking Switzerland. NB: As part of the ongoing structural reorganisation of the DP, the scope of the Service is expected to evolve and consequently, the new leadership will be involved in this process. Profile Desired profile: Federal medical diploma (or recognised MEBEKO title mandatory) and MD or MD-PhD Specialist title in psychiatry and psychotherapy or equivalent title (ISFM or MEBEKO recognition mandatory) Solid clinical experience in psychiatry and in one of the recognised psychotherapeutic approaches. Recognised managerial skills in leading a large team, training academic medical successors, and extensive project management experience. Ability to establish research programmes supported by expert external funding and confirmed academic expertise at professorial level in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
