The position is attached to the  Department of Women, Children and Adolescents , which is tasked with providing quality care tailored to the needs of women at every stage of their lives and addressing the health issues faced by newborns, children, and adolescents from birth up to the age of 16. It works on developing cutting-edge services and centres of expertise in specialities. The paediatric and adolescent surgery service covers surgical treatment of the growing body. It concerns patients with congenital malformations, diseases or consequences of accidents; it particularly includes preoperative investigations, surgical treatment, and peri- and postoperative follow-up, from birth to adulthood. It also includes follow-up of potential surgical problems that do not require surgery. The paediatric and adolescent surgery service is a primary, secondary and tertiary centre: children with simple and common conditions, as well as complex and highly specialised problems, are treated here. Geneva is the reference centre for Switzerland for paediatric liver diseases and paediatric hepato-biliary surgery. The paediatric orthopaedics and traumatology unit is one of two units within the paediatric and adolescent surgery service of the Department of Women, Children and Adolescents at the Geneva University Hospitals.  This unit provides care for hospitalised and outpatient patients in diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical aspects of congenital, acquired and traumatic conditions of the musculoskeletal system and spine of children and adolescents, both electively and in emergencies. Job Description As an assistant physician in the paediatric orthopaedics and traumatology unit, you contribute to supervising activities and mentoring junior doctors and senior registrars. You collaborate on clinical activities with the heads of service and assistant physicians. You have solid experience in paediatric orthopaedics and primarily practise in this speciality for scheduled activities. You coordinate practical activities, clinical, therapeutic or surgical interventions for the patients entrusted to you. You participate in the on-call and standby system. Demonstrating a confirmed interest in teaching, you participate in pre/postgraduate and continuing education within the unit. Dynamic, flexible and committed by nature, you develop interdisciplinary clinical projects. You participate in, deploy and ensure research within the unit, particularly in the field of spinal pathologies in children and adolescents, notably scoliosis. You are recognised for your leadership and make use of your excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills within a multidisciplinary team and with patients and their families. Qualifications You hold a federal medical diploma, a specialist title in orthopaedic surgery and trauma of the musculoskeletal system, or have training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO). You also hold a doctoral thesis. You have experience in paediatric orthopaedics and traumatology, with in-depth clinical expertise in managing spinal pathologies in children and adolescents, and have already worked as a senior registrar at minimum, ideally as a senior hospital physician, within a university hospital in this field. You hold a practising licence for the canton or are able to obtain it before starting the position. For non-French speakers, a C1 level in spoken and written French is required.
