Join the Kantonspolizei Zürich as an IT System Engineer! Exciting role in a dynamic environment. Tasks Operate and develop high-availability ICT systems in critical areas. Translate user requirements into feasible technical concepts. Manage projects and coordinate with partners and service providers. Skills Completed degree in computer science or equivalent training required. Strong knowledge of client/server systems and administration technologies. Experience with cloud environments and infrastructure as code. The Zurich Cantonal Police, with its approximately 4000 employees, takes responsibility for security in the canton. To strengthen our IT department in Zurich, we are looking for a committed and competent individual in the area of datacentres and operational control systems as: IT System Engineer (fixed-term for three years) 80 - 100% Your area of responsibility: Operating and further developing highly available ICT systems such as datacentre base systems, operational control system, image system or voice system in the mission-critical area Identifying, consolidating and implementing user requirements into feasible technical concepts Implementing projects (planning, engineering, realisation) Managing and coordinating collaboration with our partners and service providers, both in daily operations and in projects Maintaining and further developing technical documentation Your profile: Completed studies in computer science (FH) or equivalent training Good knowledge of client/server systems, confident handling of associated administration technologies (e.g. OS, virtualisation software, monitoring, backup, IAM etc.) Experience in the cloud environment Skills in infrastructure as code (Terraform/Ansible) Container and Kubernetes are not foreign words to you Fluent German and good English skills Independence, teamwork and discretion Willingness for on-call duty Our offer: We offer you a varied and meaningful activity in a dynamic environment With employment at the Canton of Zurich, you enjoy attractive employment conditions with a secure employer A centrally located, state-of-the-art workplace in the Zurich Police and Justice Centre including staff restaurant and access to the in-house fitness centre We offer you the chance to make an impact in an exciting new challenge and to shape the future together Start date: From 1 July 2026 or by arrangement (fixed-term until 30 June 2029) Any questions?
