Join Climeworks in advancing material scale-up for direct air capture! Enjoy a collaborative and innovative work environment. Tasks Support the synthesis and testing of sorbent materials. Conduct lab characterizations including CO2 adsorption behavior. Assist in material processing tasks like milling and drying. About the job Material Scale-Up: Your mission at Climeworks is to support the synthesis, testing and evaluation of sorbent materials for direct air capture ranging from laboratory experimental samples to commercially available materials. Lab Characterization: You are part of an integrated team performing lab-based characterizations, including CO2 adsorption behavior and chemical stability and support the laboratory team with their day-to-day activity including reaction preparation and work-up. Material Processing: You support the team in activities related to material processing, including milling and drying, as well as the associated analytics such as PSD and resistivity. Independent Analysis: You work independently on tasks to understand properties of sorbent materials and support the team in improving analytical methods. Validation & Reporting: You validate, troubleshoot, and clearly document your work to communicate effectively with stakeholders across Climeworks and support larger project goals. Education Background: You have completed your apprenticeship in chemistry OR your bachelor’s and/or working towards a master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field. Availability: You are available for a 6-month internship with start date preferably in January 2025 or shortly thereafter. Lab Experience: You enjoy working hands-on in the laboratory, and you have some classroom or other experience with any of the following: characterization of porous materials (BET, Hg porosimetry, TGA, etc.), adsorption characterization (breakthrough testing, DVS, etc.), wet chemistry and polymer synthesis Work Ethic & Style: You are reliable, motivated and eager to learn new concepts, skills, and tools that you might need to complete your assignments. You are solution-oriented concise and cooperative, with a structured working style. Language Skills: You are fluent in English; knowledge of German or other languages is beneficial but not required. What we offer: At Climeworks, our six-month internships offer a hybrid work setup, giving you flexibility while ensuring valuable collaboration by working onsite at least three days per week. To maintain fairness, we follow a standardized salary process based on market benchmarks.
