About the job Care Nurse at the HDJ / Paediatric pre-surgical consultation To strengthen its team, the Woman-Mother-Child Department (DFME) is looking, from 1 September 2026 or a date to be agreed, for a nurse for its paediatric day surgery hospital and its pre-surgical consultation (CPC), at a workload between 80 and 100%. Context The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in the fields of care, medical research and training. The Woman-Mother-Child Department (DFME) brings together the services of gynaecology, obstetrics, neonatology, paediatrics and child and adolescent surgery. More than 1,500 professionals provide specialised and comprehensive care for women and children, from birth to adolescence. The day surgery hospital is an outpatient unit welcoming patients aged from a few weeks to 18 years requiring surgery or an examination under general anaesthesia. Adjacent to this unit is the pre-surgical consultation (CPC). Mission Paediatric day surgery hospital: You care for children on the day of their operation: reception, pre-operative preparation, accompaniment to the operating theatre and post-anaesthetic monitoring in collaboration with an interprofessional team You provide post-operative care: clinical monitoring, pain management, wound care, education and discharge advice You ensure good understanding of post-operative instructions via telephone calls the following day. Pre-surgical consultation (CPC): You actively participate in the CPC: welcoming children and their families, settling in, taking vital signs, initial clinical assessment You perform technical care related to pre-operative preparation: blood tests, urine tests, ECG You work closely with specialists in paediatric care (ISMP), anaesthetists and medical-surgical teams to ensure a smooth pathway You contribute to the organisation and coordination of the pre-operative pathway: checking documents and preparing necessary examinations You contact children/parents the day before the operation to convey instructions: fasting, appointment time, treatment, etc. Profile You hold a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Swiss Red Cross Experience in a similar position is an asset You demonstrate rigour, organisational skills and good adaptability You are dynamic, positive and appreciate working in a multidisciplinary team You are proficient with common computer tools. Depending on profile and experience, the salary level will be between 8 and 9.
