Elys Boulderloft is a bouldering gym in Basel, Switzerland, operating 365 days a year. Route setting is the core product of our company and has a direct impact on the quality, attractiveness and sporting development of the facility. We are looking for an experienced and internationally oriented specialist to take responsibility for the professional and organisational development of our route setting. Key responsibilities: - Overall responsibility for route setting in the bouldering gym - Development and implementation of modern bouldering and route-setting concepts - Ensuring a varied, safe and high-quality bouldering offer for different target groups and performance levels - Planning, coordination and quality control of the route-setting team - Training, guidance and development of route setters and related staff - Monitoring international trends in route setting, movement design, holds, volumes and training environments - Responsibility for the professional selection, purchasing and use of climbing holds, volumes and route-setting material - Budget planning and cost control in the route-setting department - Collaboration with management, training, courses and operations - Ensuring high safety, quality and cleanliness standards in all route-setting activities - Willingness to work irregular hours, including outside regular opening hours Requirements: - Several years of professional experience in route setting, ideally in different climbing or bouldering facilities and across different performance levels - Proven high-level expertise in bouldering and professional route setting - Active personal climbing or bouldering practice at a high level, allowing the candidate to test and evaluate demanding movements - Experience in leading, coordinating or developing route-setting teams - Strong knowledge of international developments, trends and standards in route setting - Experience with budget planning, material planning or purchasing of route-setting equipment is an advantage - Good command of English - German is not required; willingness to learn German is an advantage - High physical resilience and a strong awareness of safety - Independent, structured and responsible working style - Willingness to work in a 365-day operation with partly irregular working hours We offer: - A key specialist and leadership role in an established bouldering gym in Basel - Responsibility for the core product of the company - Room to shape and further develop the route-setting concept - Collaboration with a committed and motivated team - A dynamic, sporty and professional working environment
