Join us in our commitment to the vision of a solidaristic society, as Care at Asylum Centre 80% in Winterthur, fixed-term (m/f/d) Caritas Switzerland has been operating asylum centres at various locations in the canton of Zurich on behalf of the canton since March 2024. Since 1 January 2026 and on a fixed-term basis, we have opened a transit centre in the Winterthur area. The centre offers space for up to 100 asylum seekers. It is located in an underground facility that meets current requirements for safety, infrastructure and protection. The premises are functional and purposefully designed to create as pleasant and structured an environment as possible for the residents. For the care team, we are looking for a flexible and committed person who is willing to work various shifts including day, night and weekend duties. Your tasks Support and advice for refugees in various everyday matters Handling admissions and discharges: provision of personal files, admission materials as well as receipt of materials, discharge accounting Co-responsibility for conflict management and resolution according to care principles Introduction and guidance on cleaning and maintenance of living areas and implementation of cleaning and hygiene concepts Planning, introduction and guidance of housekeeping and errands Co-responsibility for compliance with house rules in the centre and implementation of the organisational manual regarding safety and emergencies Ensuring orderly centre operations and a calm atmosphere Taking on work duties with varying times (including day, night and weekend shifts) Our requirements Completed training and professional experience preferably in care or housekeeping; experience in the migration sector desirable Good knowledge of German and good spoken English skills, additional foreign language skills an advantage Good computer skills (especially MS Office and internet) High sense of responsibility, hygiene and quality awareness Initiative, independence and a high degree of work organisation Flexibility, resilience and assertiveness Willingness to work shifts with varying times High sense of responsibility and duty Cultural openness Impeccable reputation Workplace is Canton Zurich (Winterthur) Start date: immediately or by arrangement The position is fixed-term until 31.12.2026.
